Goals and Objectives

1. The goal of the CEU is to increase the primary care provider’s knowledge of hazardous substances in the environment and to aid in the evaluation of potentially exposed patients.
2. After completion of this course, the reader should be able to explain why asbestos may be a health hazard, describe the factors contributing to asbestos toxicity, identify potential environmental and occupational sources of exposure to asbestos, identify evaluation and treatment protocols for persons exposed to asbestos, and list sources of information on asbestos.
